Mrs. Janice Williams Drawdy, 75, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Friday morning, November 29, 2024, at her residence.
A daughter of the late Wilmer Leroy Williams and the late Eula Alvilda Zeigler Williams, she was born September 25, 1949, at the old Esdorn Hospital in Walterboro, where she would later work as a secretarial assistant for Dr. Scrappy Smith. She worked a long and faithful career at Farm Bureau in Walterboro, a place she became well-known by the members of a community she dearly loved. Recently, she began working in the office of Griffith and Griffith in Walterboro. She was a longtime member of Great Swamp Baptist Church, where she was active in countless aspects of the church’s work. At her church, she served as music director, Ladies Adult Sunday School Teacher, and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union. Janice lived each day with the attitude of “What can I do for you” a genuineness that she possessed in her heart. She was also the driving force behind her husband and his peanut business. She was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star – former Walterboro Chapter No. 147; and she was also a member of the Gideons International.
Surviving are: her husband of fifty-four years, Mr. Joseph David Drawdy, Sr.; four children, Janice M. “Jan” Drawdy of Walterboro, Joseph D. “Joey” Drawdy, Jr. (Sherry) of Walterboro, Barbara Drawdy Rentz (Matt) of Walterboro, and H.S. Price of Walterboro; two sisters, Judy Williams of Round O and Joyce Mauney of Wisconsin, a sister-in-law, Debbie Williams; and eight grandchildren, Megan Brantley (Joey), Elizabeth Price, Kristin Drawdy, Fayann Rentz, Billie Rose Price, Joseph Douglas Drawdy, Rose Rentz, and Trey Rentz. She is survived by a large and loving host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, many of whom she loved as her own, especially her niece, Jenny Hiott (Jamie) and their children, Beverly, Kimberly, Amie, and Emily. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Brooks Williams and Wilmer Williams; and an infant sister, Verona Williams; and on she loved as a son, Tommy Davis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, December 5, 2024, from Great Swamp Baptist Church, 3396 Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro. The Reverend Danny Zorn, The Reverend Jack Padgett, and The Reverend Jakie Walters officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
