Janice Tucker Beatty

Mrs. Janice Tucker Beatty, 87, of Cottageville, entered into rest Friday morning, February 9, 2024, at her residence.

Born January 23, 1937, in Stanley County, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Matthew Lee Tucker and the late Kathleen Smith Tucker.   She was a devoted homemaker and centered her life around her loving family.  She would always light-up when she would see children.  When living in Columbia, prior to moving to Cottageville, she joined and was active at Shannon Presbyterian Church.  She always delighted in tending to her yard.

Surviving are: her husband of seventy-one years, Mr. Robert Austin “Bob” Beatty; a son, Robert A. Beatty, Jr. (Catherine) of Charlotte, North Carolina; a daughter, Beverly Beatty (Steve Vasas) of Cottageville; a sister, Nancy T. Vogler of Concord, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Brooks Beatty, Lauren Safaie, Cole Beatty, Justin Acree, and Robin Mansfield; and three great grandchildren, Luke Safie, Brin Beatty, and Ansley Acree.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Redding.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, February 12, 2024, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.   Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.    The family has stated that dress casual attire is acceptable and expected for Monday’s services.
