Jane Mcknight

Mrs. Jane McKnight, 80, of Pine Street West in Varnville, a longtime resident of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, entered into rest Friday evening, July 11, 2014, at Hospice of Charleston in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. She was the wife of the late Mr. Barrette McKnight.
Family and friends may call for a local visitation Tuesday evening from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Homes, Varnville-Hampton Chapel, 1074 Yemassee Highway, Varnville. Mrs. McKnight will be laid to her rest in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
Born March 14, 1934, a native of Christian County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late R. H. McCown and the late Emma Powell McCown. She resided in Hopkinsville, Kentucky where she and her late husband made their home, she worked a dedicated and successful career, and was well loved by many people before failing health brought her to her daughter's home in the Lowcountry of South Carolina in 2013 when Varnville became her beloved home. Employed by Pepsi Cola, she worked in many capacities, chiefly having worked as an office manager before retiring after a career that spanned over forty-one years. She was born and raised in Christian County, Kentucky where she was a long-time member of Crofton Christian Church active in many aspects of the church's work before moving her membership and active attendance to Highland Presbyterian Church in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. She participated actively in her community, having been a member of the Order of The Easter Star, the Hopkinsville Business and Professional Women's Club where she held board positions, and served on the board of the local AARP Chapter. Jane constantly stayed busy, even after retirement she continued to support her community and others. She loved to travel and she will always be remembered for the love she possessed for her family and friends.
Surviving are: her daughter, Dr. Cynthia McKnight-Zeigler and her husband, William of Varnville; as well as her dear friend, Miss Elizabeth Woods of Varnville.
