James Hinton Wood, Jr.

May 16, 1937 — February 8, 2017

Mr. James Hinton “Jim” Wood, Jr., age 79, entered into rest Wednesday morning, February 8, 2017, at his home in Adams Run.  He was the husband of the late Mrs. Patricia C. Wood.

Funeral services will be conducted 4 o’clock Saturday afternoon, February 11, 2017, from the graveside in Adams Run Cemetery, Highway 174, Adams Run.   The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony during at time of visitation from 2:30pm until 3:30pm that afternoon at Hopewell Baptist Church, 6869 Parkers Ferry Road, Adams Run.

Born May 16, 1937, in Adams Run, he was a son of the late James Hinton Wood, Sr., and that late Cherry Elizabeth Barwick Wood.  He was the founding owner of Jim’s Welding Service and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.   Jim was a family man, who loved fishing and having cook-outs.

Surviving are: a son, Donald Michael Colangelo and his wife Cathy of Adams Run; a sister, Joyce Wood Bishop of Wyoming; his caregiver and sister-in-law, Connie E. Campbell of Ravenel; four grandchildren, Geoff, Jennifer, Tiffany, and Erica; as well as seven great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathy Marie Wood.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to an organization who provided great care for Mr. Jim, Amedisys Home Health of Charleston, 1027 Physicians Drive, Suite 240, Charleston, South Carolina 29414.
