Mr. James Irvin Seigler, 92, of 4454 Cottageville Highway, Round O, entered into his state of eternal rest Saturday morning, April 10, 2010, at the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro.



Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Monday morning, April 12, 2010, from Bedon Baptist Church, 2410 Cottageville Highway, Walterboro, with The Reverend John Moore and The Reverend Eric Bjork officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites conferred by Hammerton Masonic Lodge will follow in the churchyard.



Mr. Seigler was born September 2, 1917, in Colleton County and was a son of the late Wesley Seigler and the late Annie Padgett Seigler. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army and Naval Reserve. After having received his honorable discharge from the military in 1946, he then went to work for the Charleston Naval Shipyard where he retired as a machinist. After his retirement, and while they were still living in Charleston he worked in the capacity of a patrolman for the City of Charleston and continued his public service with the Walterboro Police Department after moving back to the Walterboro area. He was a member of Bedon Baptist Church in Walterboro where he was a former member of the Deacon Board and was active and faithful in many aspects of the churchs work. He was a former member of Hampton Park Baptist Church in Charleston where he also served on the Deacon Board. He was a fifty year member of Hammerton Masonic Lodge No. 332 Ancient Free Masons in Charleston and was also a member of the Omar Shrine Temple and the Scottish Rite. James will be fondly remembered for his faithfulness to his Lord and the love and devotion he showed to his loving wife.



Surviving are: his wife of fifty-eight years, Mrs. Ruby Thomason Seigler; a daughter, Daisy Proctor of Summerville; and a sister, Patricia Hiers of Maggie Valley, North Carolina. There are three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren that also survive. He was preceded in death by a grandson.
