WALTERBORO " Mr. James Walter Jake Saulisbury, 71, of Walterboro died Wednesday, February 11, 2009.
Mr. Saulisbury was born July 15, 1937 in Moncks Corner and was a son of the late John Wesley Saulisbury and Vernon Lueneal Metts Saulisbury. He was retired carpenter with Gilmore Construction. He enjoyed spending his time gardening, hunting, and fishing, but most enjoyed spending time with his family and telling jokes.
Surviving are: a step-son, Edwin Werts of Walterboro; sisters, Helen Smoak of St. George and Lueneal White of Moncks Corner; grandchildren, Shawn Werts, Robert Werts, Crystal Tilly, Roxie Werts and Rebecca Poland, all of Walterboro; great grandchildren, George Henry Poland, Lennon Lee Poland, Jessica Lyons, Desiree Lyons, Roderick Weber and Destiny Weber, all of Walterboro; nieces, Patricia White of Round O, Peggy Carpenter of Goose Creek and Ruth Thompson of Round O; and great nieces and nephews, Laurie Hoff, Roger Adams and Wendy Hoff, all of Round O and Robert Hoff of Cottageville. He was preceded in death by his companion of 22 years, Grace Cummings Wilson; sister, Annie Laurie White; and brothers, Marvin Saulisbury and Ralph Saulisbury.
Funeral services will be held privately.
