Mr. James Edward McMillan, 77, Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Tuesday morning, October 21, 2025, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Sherryl Mixson McMillan to whom he was married 52 years.
Born June 6, 1948, in Colleton County, he was a son of the late Hezekiah Henry “H.H.” McMillan and Ruby Grooms McMillan. He served his country in the United States Army and retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church and dearly loved his church. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are: his sons, Brian McMillan and his wife Michelle of Walterboro and Chad McMillan and his wife Courtney of Monroe, Georgia; grandchildren, Stephanie McMillan Platts and her husband Cameron, James “JB” McMillan (Katelyn Lovett), Lauren McMillan, Ethan McMillan, and Rhett McMillan; great granddaughter, Malorie Kate Platts; sister-in-law, Jean Herndon and her husband Randall; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles H. McMillan.
Funeral services will be held 3 o’clock, Friday afternoon, October 24, 2025 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. The Reverend Jerome Hodge officiating. Interment will follow in Peniel Baptist Church Cemetery, Forks Road, Islandton.
