Mr. James Floyd Stanfield, 74, of Walterboro, entered into rest Saturday afternoon, November 9, 2019, at the Ralph H. Johnson Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Charleston following a brief illness.
Born May 31, 1945, in Walterboro, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Thomas Stanfield and the late Bessie Mae Stanfield Jenkins. He served our country in the United States Army and was a retired mechanic from Asten Hill in Walterboro where he worked a dedicated career of thirty-one years. He was a member of Welch Creek Baptist Church where he was faithful in his attendance and served as an Usher. He loved the Lord with all of his heart and always took the opportunity to share salvation with others. He enjoyed camping and loved being in his boat and fishing. He was known by many as “Mr. Fix-It” and will always be remembered as humble and giving man who enjoyed the fellowship of others.
Surviving are his wife of fifty years, Mrs. Mary Herndon Stanfield; three daughters, Jennifer Stanfield Bordelon and her husband Stan of Sanford, North Carolina, Sharon Stanfield Gibson and her husband David of Walterboro, and April Stanfield of Charleston; a brother, Milton Jenkins and his wife Esther of Walterboro; a sister, Myrtle Ann Davis of Summerville; seven grandchildren, Alishia Fields, Paul, Garrett, Emma, and Anna Caroline Bordelon, Hannah and Kaleb Gibson; and one great grandchild, Dalilah. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jackie Stanfield and Jimmie Lee Jenkins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, November 13, 2019, from Welch Creek Baptist Church, 536 Welch Creek Road, Walterboro. Pastor James Baker officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
