James Monroe Crosby

Mr. James Monroe Crosby, 83, of Breland Street, Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Thursday, May 8, 2014 at his residence under the care of Odyssey Hospice.

Graveside funeral services will be held 11 am, Monday, May 12, 2014, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1150 Possum Corner Road, with Reverend Marshall Stanley officiating. Visitation will follow immediately after the service in the church social hall.

Born August 12, 1929, a native and lifelong resident of Colleton County, he was a son of the late Palmer Crosby and Lula Langdale Crosby. He worked at Ideal Dry Cleaning and Laundry, and also worked at Old Fort Meat Packers.

Surviving are: his wife of 61 years, Mary Julia Ritter Crosby of Walterboro; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert O. Crosby, Sr. and Mac Crosby; and two sisters, Ida Lou Fisk Crosby and Marie Jenkins.
