Jacqueline Devora Mixon

Dec 10, 1939 — Sep 22, 2026

Estill, South Carolina

Ms. Jacqueline Devora Mixon, 86, of Estill, South Carolina, entered into heavenly rest early Tuesday morning, September 22, 2026 surrounded by family. "Jacky", as she was fondly called was born on December 10, 1939 to Elise Long Mixon and Oregon Mixon in Furman SC and was the spunky big sister to Nancy and Marion. Jacky married Gerald Mills from right down the road in Hampton, SC and they were the proud parents of Mindy Mills Hinson, Pamela Mills Wolski (John Wolski) and Elizabeth Mills Ferguson who in turn blessed them with eight beautiful grandchildren, Elizabeth Mills Bryan (Cole Bryan), Christina Mills Payne (Greg Payne), Jonathan Parker Mills, Robin Dale Ferguson, Reid Garrett Hinson, Jr., Mills Gray Hinson (Marion Carili) and Brett Ferguson, and two beautiful great grandchildren June Elizabeth Payne and Robert Silas Payne.

Mom lived in Charlotte, NC for most of her life where she raised her family. Her Christian faith was always the most important component of her life. She was devoted to and sent many resources to her beloved mission "Jesus to the Communist World" known today as the Voice of the Martyrs. She was involved in building churches and supporting missionary work around the world. She was once detained while attempting to smuggle Bibles into communist "Socialist Republic of Romania ". She was not a member of a specific church but always declared she was a proud member of the "Church of Christ".

Mom was the owner of Way Enterprises of Charlotte, Inc. founded in the 1980's when not too many women owned businesses of their own much less turn the business into such a successful thriving company as Mom owned where she mightily employed many people and treated everyone as if they were part of her very own family. Today 40 years later she still was in contact with several of them. Mom retired and went home to Estill, SC where she lived for the last twenty five years of her life continuing to care for others in her community in many different capacities. Anyone that knew her, knew she longed for the day she would be present with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in eternity. While we will all miss her resounding laughter, spicy antics, talented culinary skills and famous pound cakes, we take great comfort and joy knowing that although she is now absent from her human family on earth she is present with the Jesus she so adored and the many Saints that went before her. 2 Corinthians 5:8-9.

Mom loved the beach, entertaining, reading and cooking.

Jacqueline Devora Mixon was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 11 o'clock at Steep Bottom Baptist Church, 2035 Steep Bottom Road, Estill, SC.  The family will receive friends following the service in the social hall.

If you are searching for a memorial for Mom, she would love for her memory to be honored with a gift to Help for the Refugees, Inc., Post Office Box 2726, Palos Verde Peninsula, CA 90274 USA.
