Mrs. Jacqueline Hodgson, age 64, of Black Street in Walterboro, entered into rest eternal Friday evening, December 5, 2014, at the Trident Medical Center in North Charleston following a long and courageous battle against cancer.

Family and friends are invited to attend her celebration of life service which will be conducted 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, December 10, 2014, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.

The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony in The Harbeston Stateroom of the Mortuary.

Born June 25, 1950, a daughter of the late Major John Hodgson and the late J. Micki Hodgson; she was a native of Uganda, Africa having been reared in Chichester, England. She made America her home in 1975 when she first resided in New York City, New York. She then made the Lowcountry of South Carolina her home in 1984 when she moved to Walterboro where she later gave birth to her daughter, Jessica. Jackie considered Jessica her greatest accomplishment. Jackie enjoyed spending time with and caring for her late fiancé B. Ray Woodard. Jackie was a devoted step mother to Augie. Jackie, always known to be kind a generous, still remained strong throughout her battle with cancer. Having been employed by The Bank of Walterboro, she was a well-known friend to the Walterboro Community by the help she provided to countless people through her devoted work in their loan department. Along with the many wonderful accomplishments in her life as well as the devotions she held close to her heart she will also be remembered for her loving of traveling and always centering her life around her loving family.

Surviving are: her daughter, Jessica Nugent of Walterboro; a son, Augie Nugent and his wife Desiree of New York City; and two sisters, Nicola Stanley and Sally Morgan both of England. She is also survived by her former husband, George David Nugent of Walterboro and a host of wonderful and devoted longtime family friends, Carla Nugent, John Nugent, Joe Nugent, Daniel Nugent, Annette Pulis and family, Thomas and Audrey Murray and family, C. G. and Louise Johnson and family, Sue Dakin and Martin Wawrla of New York, Michelle and Johnny Bell, Ashely and Pattie Woodard and family, Christian and Larry Leary, George and Frieda Cone, Anna Tagliaferro and Richard Brown and family, and Amauri and Carlasia Sanders; as well several nieces and nephews; and her colleagues at The Bank of Walterboro. She leaves behind her two faithful and dearly loved puppies, Delta and Dallas.
