Mr. Jacob Foreman Jake Malphrus, 74, of Early Branch, entered into eternal rest Monday, June 30, 2014 at Candler Hospital in Savannah.
Funeral services will be conducted 10 am, Thursday, July 3, 2014 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Varnville. Interment will follow in Smith Cemetery.
Mr. Malphrus was born April 14, 1940 in Ridgeland a son of Lula Way Floyd and the late Foreman Vincent Malphrus. He retired in 2005 from International Paper. Jake was a dedicated member of Grays Church of God of Prophecy. He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter.
Surviving are: his wife of 54 years, Joyce Tuten Malphrus; mother, Lula Way Malphrus Floyd of Ridgeland; son, Benjie (Angie) Malphrus of Grays; brothers, Eddie (Cynthia) Malphrus of Arlington, Texas and Freddie (Myra) Malphrus of Ridgeland; sister, Nancy (Oscar) Rivera of Ridgeland; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a beloved son, Glen Fry Malphrus.
