Mr. Jacob Marshall Gibson, affectionately known to all as "Mutt", 66, of Ehrhardt, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. He was the husband of the late Etheline Jarrell Gibson.
Funeral services will be held 4 pm, Friday, May 18, 2012 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Gibson was born July 19, 1945 in Colleton County and was a son of the late Jacob Laz Gibson and Irene Kinard Gibson. He served his country faithfully, having retired from the South Carolina National Guard and also retired from NEVAMAR in Hampton. He was a dedicated member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and was also a member of Oak Grove Hunting Club. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, farming and logging, but most of all he loved his family and loved helping others.
Surviving are: his sister, Nancy Jacobs and her husband William of Bamberg; brothers, Tommy R. Gibson of Orangeburg and Henry E. Gibson and his wife Ann of Columbia; 3 special friends, Russell Jordan of Lodge, Donald Steedly of Ehrhardt and Beverly Sterner of Columbia; special brother-in-law, Caskell Hudson of Hampton; special sister-in-law, Alma Jarrell of Hampton; and nieces and nephews, Steve Gibson, Brian Gibson, Amy Mills, Andy Nix, Valerie Sherenco, Debra Walters, April Elwood and Dallas Gear.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to: Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, care of Evelyn Rentz, 2330 Ehrhardt Road, Ehrhardt, SC 29081.
