Mr. Jack Perry Griffin, Jr., affectionately known as "Uncle Jack", 69, of Shawnee Lane, Smoaks, entered into eternal rest Saturday, October 1, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
A memorial service will be held 3 o'clock, Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Jones Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church in Walterboro.
Mr. Griffin was born January 11, 1942 in Smoaks, SC and was a son of the late Jack Perry Griffin, Sr. and Hattie Elizabeth Carter Griffin. He was an employee of Asten Johnson in Walterboro, where he worked for over 10 years and was a retired Cutting Room Supervisor for VESTRA. Mr. Griffin served his country in the South Carolina Army National Guard, following his time of Active Duty with the United States Army, wehre he served in both the Pacific and European Theater. He was a member of Jones Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church; was a member of Smoaks Masonic Lodge No. 231, where he was a Master Mason; and was an avid supporter of the Epworth Children's Home. He enjoyed spending his time fishing, farming and taking care of his livestock.
Surviving are: his wife of 44 years, Edyce Woods Griffin of Smoaks; children, Jack Perry Griffin, III of Smoaks and Jacqueline Griffin Barrineau and her husband William of Hendersonville; brother, David C. Griffin of Early Branch; sisters, Christine Smith of Fayetteville, NC and Mary Jo Davenport of California; grandchildren, Stephanie Ally Barrineau, William Joshua Barrineau, Jaci Sophia Griffin and Marshall Jackson Woods Griffin; one who he loved like a brother, Benny R. Rowe; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece and nephew, Connie Dickson and Glen Griffin; and the love of his life, his Chihuahua, Sassy.
