Jack Benton
December 26, 1945 — April 17, 2012
Mr. Jack Benny Benton, 66, of Durant Avenue, Cottageville entered into his eternal rest Tuesday evening, April 17, 2012, while under the care of Hospice Care of South Carolina after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 o'clock, Saturday, April 21, 2012, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
Mr. Benton was born December 26, 1945, in Colleton County and was a son of the late Cannie Anderson Benton, Sr. and the late Lee Verly Garvin Benton. Mr. Benton retired from Besteel as an iron worker after twenty-five years of dedicated service. He will be fondly remembered for his love of animals and his passion for the H.L. Hunley Submarine.
Surviving are: his loving and faithful wife of thirty-seven years, Mrs. Karolyn Herndon Benton; his daughter, Angela Benton Sanders and her husband Charles A. Sanders of Round O; two sisters, Kathleen Cordray of Charleston and Joann Hyatt of Florence. There are two grandchildren, Shakerra Sanders and Antonio Sanders along with a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Cannie Benton, Jr.
