Mr. JW Williams, 80, of 6202 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro, entered into his state of eternal rest Sunday evening, August 29, 2010, at his residence under the care of Hospice Care of South Carolina.
A celebration of his life will be celebrated Wednesday evening, September 1, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro with The Reverend Steve Crosby and The Reverend Ken Bailey officiating.
The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony until 8 oclock in the Harbiston Stateroom of the funeral home.
Mr. Williams was born July 11, 1930, in Hazlehurst, Georgia and was a son of the late Bonn Williams and the late Ada Griffin Williams. He served his country faithfully in the South Carolina National Guard and was of the Southern Baptist Faith. He was a heavy equipment operator and will be fondly remembered for his strong work ethic.
Surviving are: his loving wife of sixty years, Mrs. Eva Harrison Williams; four sons, Bobby Williams and his wife Gloria of Branchville, Jimmy Williams and his wife Brenda of North, Jerry Williams and his wife Jill of Harlem, Georgia, and Allen Williams of Lexington, Texas; two daughters, Estelle Telle Still and her husband Jerry of Hilda and Karen Flores and her husband Manuel of Walterboro; a brother, Albert Williams and his wife Ann of Hazlehurst, Georgia; and a sister, Annette Harrington and her husband Cosby of Hazlehurst, Georgia. There are ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren that also survive. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jack Barwick; and three sisters, Evelyn, Bonnie, and Mary Lee.
