Mrs. Iris Mummey Orbach, 90, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Thursday evening, August 8, 2024, at Trident Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Vincent William “Willie” Orbach.
Born July 25, 1934, in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Lorenzo Mummey and Carrie Brosiouse Mummey. She was the last operator for Southern Bell Telephone Company and had also worked as a cashier for Piggly Wiggly in Walterboro. She was a member of St. Jude's Church. Mrs. Iris loved painting and was an avid reader. She loved volunteering at the Veteran’s Victory House. Most of all, she was a wonderful mother and loved her family.
Surviving are: her children, William “Billy” Orbach and his wife Carolyn of Charleston, Karyn Barnes and her husband Ladson of Rock Hill, Nancy Orbach of Walterboro, and Roseanne Orbach (Vance) of Walterboro; grandchildren, Shuan Barnes, Michael Orbach, Cassandra Barnes Booth, Gregory Elliott, Jasmine Vance Hughey, and Andrew Vance; and great grandchildren, Serenity Hughey, Stephan Hughey, Christopher Booth, Josephine Booth, and Vivian Barnes. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert “Bobby” Orbach; and sisters, Virginia Wagner, Erma Haney, and Evelyn Croll.
Funeral services will be held 10 o’clock, Saturday morning, August 17, 2024, at St. Jude's Church, 907 Wichman Street, Walterboro.
