Mrs. Irene Smith Woodard, 86, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2025, at Carlyle Senior Care of Williston. She was the wife of the late George Edward Woodard to whom she was married 47 years.
Born May 5, 1939, in Jasper County, she was the daughter of the late Herbert O’Neal Smith and Annie Myrtis Perry Smith. She was a retired teller for Farmers Merchant Bank, where she worked for over 40 years. She was a member of North Walterboro Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class which she dearly loved. She was a great southern cook, enjoyed gardening, working with her flowers, and loved painting ceramics.
Surviving are: her daughter, Becky Hanna and her husband Greg of Williston, sisters, Inez S. McMillan and her husband Thomas of Walterboro, and Vera S. Malphrus of Grays; and grandchildren, Brandon Hanna and his wife Kimberly, Austin Woodard, and Cameron Woodard. She was preceded in death by her son, The Reverend Dr. David L. Woodard; and her brother, Bobby Smith.
Funeral services will be held 11 o’clock Friday morning, August 22, 2025, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
