Irene Georgia Carter

Mrs. Irene Georgia Carter, 82, of Ruffin, entered into eternal rest Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Colleton Medical Center. She was first married to the late James Harrison “Harry” Georgia and secondly to the late Bennie Carter.

A memorial service will be held 4 pm, Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel.

Mrs. Carter was born September 8, 1930 in Avoca, New York and was a daughter of the late George Rook and Hazel Parsons Rook. She was a member of Peniel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Carter loved to work, especially working in her yards and with her flowers. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are: her children, Brenda Lemacks and her husband Gordon of Ruffin and Ronald Lee Georgia and his wife Jeanette of Bath, New York; grandchildren, Lindy Stevenson, James G. Lemacks, Jr., Jennifer Lemacks, Kyle Georgia and Jeremy Georgia; brother, Joseph Rook of Bath, New York; and a sister, Ramona of Fresno, California. She was preceded in death by a brother, George Rook.
