Inez Benton Johns

Mrs. Inez Benton Johns, 83, of Lodge, entered into eternal rest Friday, May 30, 2014 at Colleton Medical Center. She was first married to the late Harris Odell Benton and secondly to the late Pledger Mouzon “P.M.” Johns.

Funeral services will be held 3 pm, Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Carter’s Ford Baptist Church, 6507 Lodge Highway, Lodge. Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2 pm until the hour of service at the church.

Born June 13, 1930 in Colleton County, she was a daughter of the late George Wesley Crosby and Hazel Hiott Crosby. She was a retired bookkeeper from Bryan Motors. An active and faithful member of Carter’s Ford Baptist Church, she was the church treasurer for 40 years, Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, WMU Director and choir member. Most of all, she will be remembered for the love she had for her family, always centering her life around them.

Surviving are: her children, Barbara Benton Meetze and her husband Bobby of Walterboro and Bill Johns of Columbia; brother, John Crosby of Walterboro; sister, Ruth Nichols of Parkersburg, West Virginia; three grandchildren, Jennie Meetze, Robbie Meetze and his wife Amee, and Eddie Meetze and his wife Stephanie; and two great grandchildren, Courtney Bishop and Sawyer Meetze.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to: Carter’s Ford Baptist Church, Post Office Box 1, Lodge, South Carolina 29082.
