LINCOLN, Ida

WALTERBORO " Mrs. Ida Mae OQuinn Lincoln, affectionately known as Gaggy, 89, of 308 Orange Street, Walterboro, died Sunday afternoon, May 4, 2008, at her residence under the care of Winyah Hospice. She was the widow of Mr. Russell Carver Lincoln.



Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Wednesday morning, May 7, 2008, from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 7345 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.



Mrs. Lincoln was born October 26, 1918, in Walterboro and was a daughter of the late Jacob Getsinger OQuinn and the late Martha Elizabeth Langdale OQuinn. She had her Associates Degree in Nursing and for many years was a Licensed Practical Nurse with Colleton Hospital as well as Oakwood Health Care Center in Walterboro. Following that, she worked for Dr. B.C. Phillips in Walterboro until her retirement. She was a member of Living Word Outreach Ministries where she was active with the Card Ministry of the Church, was a Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the Church Choir. She was a member of the Young at Heart, the Senior Friends, and the Walterboro Chapter No. 147 " Order of the Eastern Star. She will be remembered for her love of gardening, reading, and writing poetry.



Surviving are: her daughter, Carmela Smith Cogsdale and her husband T.C. of Murphy, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Robin Barnes and her husband John of Walterboro, Teresa Carter and her husband Billy of Walterboro, David Smith and his wife Gloria of Yorktown, Virginia, and Scarlett Smith Phillips of Newbern, North Carolina; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchild, as well as, a son-in-law, Junior Mack Smith of Walterboro.



The family would like to extend a special appreciation to the administration and staff of Winyah Hospice for the special care and attention given to Mrs. Lincoln, especially Mrs. Barbara Steadman, FNP and Mrs. Allison Pace, RN for the devotion and love given.
