Howard Sussman died peacefully on February 27, 2024, in Walterboro, South Carolina, at age 89. Howard is survived by his children, Eric Sussman and Angela Skowronek, Lori Sussman and BJ Warner, and Brian Sussman and Jennifer Sussman. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Felice Sussman, his brother Arthur Sussman, and his parents, Joseph and Ethel Sussman.
Howard was born in New York City, New York. After graduating from George Washington High School, he was drafted into the Army and served in Germany as part of the last American occupation forces. After fulfilling his service, he returned to New York and married Felice in 1958. After attending Indiana University, Howard and Felice returned to New York. Howard began working for Child Guidance in sales. He became an executive at several toy companies, such as Questor, Gabriel, Tonka, and Ertl. During this period, the couple welcomed three children. Howard’s children remember him as a loving father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Howard was passionate about socializing and often indulged in many Bridge and Pinochle sessions. He was kind and enjoyed long conversations about world events. He was a fixture at the Charleston Senior Centers and was known for being a devoted friend.
