Mr. Homer Martin Stallings, Sr., 81, of Jacksonboro, entered into rest Saturday afternoon, April 2, 2022, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Helen McMillan Stallings.
Born January 16, 1941 in LaGrange, Georgia, he was a son of the late Quillan Carroll Stallings and the late Mary Arrington Stallings. Homer dedicated most of his life to hard work. He began with American Peat and Organic in Green Pond, South Carolina and worked in nearly all positions possible in his over thirty plus years with the company, seeing the company transition into Markman Peat at the time of his retirement. He was a lifelong member of Jacksonboro Baptist Church. Homer stayed on the go. He was a constant sidekick with his brother, Billy and sister, Pat in his brother’s cooking and catering business. He was a friend to all, was always present, and willing to help. He enjoyed traveling to the mountains with his late wife, and he will always be remembered for his yearly harvest of Silver Queen Corn which was a highly sought-after staple by the community.
Surviving are: three children, Kelli Jean Brooks and her husband Paul of Graniteville, Homer “Marty” Stallings, Jr. and his wife Angela of Green Pond, and Melanie Stallings Buchanan and her husband Tony of Walterboro; a brother, Billy Stallings and his wife Terri of Jacksonboro; and three sisters, Pat Duggan of Jacksonboro, Becky Bass of Walterboro, and Carolyn Godley of Jacksonboro. There are two grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Caleb Stallings and Makayla Stallings.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock Thursday morning, April 7, 2022, from Jacksonboro Baptist Church, 14749 Charleston Highway, Round O. The Reverend Riv Temple officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard.
