Hilda Brightwell

Hilda Cox Brightwell, widow of Charles Davidson Brightwell, peacefully entered eternal rest on August 29, 2018 in Walterboro, South Carolina.  She was a long-time resident of Portsmouth, Virginia and Charleston, South Carolina.  She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Charleston, South Carolina.

Born July 2, 1919 in Sweet Briar, Virginia she was the daughter of Clara Cash Cox and Archer Downey Cox.  She is survived by one son, Charles S. Brightwell (Gary Hagood) of Walterboro, South Carolina; one brother, Archer Haywood Cox of Chesapeake, Virginia; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, William Archer Brightwell of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Kay Franklin Brightwell; and a brother, Hildred Augustus Cox of Lynchburg, Virginia.

Graveside services will be held at 10 o’clock, Wednesday morning, September 5, 2018 at Spring Hill Cemetery, Lynchburg, Virginia.
