Herman Fail

July 24, 1948 — March 20, 2016

Herman Watkins Fail, affectionately known by many as “Dooley”, age 67, of Enoch Road, Ruffin, entered into rest Sunday morning, March 20, 2016, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.

Funeral services will be conducted 6 o’clock Thursday evening, March 24, 2016, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  The Reverend Ricky Crosby officiating.  The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony until 8 o’clock that evening.

Born July 24, 1948, in Millen, Georgia, he was a son of the late Clifford and Annie Lou Wilson Fail.  He made the Lowcountry of South Carolina his home since 1987.  He served our country faithfully in the United States Air Force.  He was a retired Parts Manager from Rizer Chevrolet in Walterboro, where over the many years he was there he became a well-known icon and friend to many.  He was of the Baptist faith and will always be remembered for his love of fishing, gardening, and woodworking.  He was an avid supporter and member of many veteran and military organizations.

Surviving are: his wife of forty years, Mrs. Debra G. Fail and three sons, Chris Fail and his wife Kimberly, Zack Fail, and Trenton Fail all of Ruffin.  There are three grandchildren, Ashlyn McDonald, Taegan Fail, and Addison Fail.   There are two whom he loved as his own sons, Allen Shirrel of Moncks Corner and Ricky Smith of Georgia.
