Herbert Herndon

Mr. Herbert Herndon, 79, entered into rest Saturday evening, February 14, 2015, at his home in Islandton while under the care of Amedisys Hospice. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Catherine Judy Herndon.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, February 18, 2015, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Peniel Baptist Churchyard, 37 Forks Road, Islandton.

Mr. Herndon was born June 19, 1935 and was a native and lifelong resident of Islandton, South Carolina. He retired from Westinghouse in Hampton and was of the Baptist faith. He will be fondly remembered for his love of the outdoors and his passion for hunting and fishing in earlier years.

A loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, his is survived by: a daughter, Patricia Herndon of Islandton; two sons, Johnny Herndon and his wife Linda of Islandton and Ricky Herndon and his wife Sonya of Walterboro; a step-daughter, Sherry Outz of Columbia; and a sister, Ruth. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren as well as great great grandchildren.
