Henry Julius Price

Mr. Henry Julius Price, 85, of Peurifoy Road, Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Thursday afternoon, November 7, 2013, at his residence under the care of Heartland Hospice.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 o'clock Saturday morning, November 9, 2013, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Pastor Daniel Cooper and Pastor Daryl Hunt officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.

Born September 7, 1928, a native and lifelong resident of Colleton County, he was a son of the late Henry Austin Price and the late Alice Irene Robertson Price. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy having enlisted during the ending of World War II in 1943. In 1994, he retired as a Calendar Operator from Asten-Johnson in Walterboro. He was a faithful member of Living Word Outreach Ministries in Walterboro where he was active in many aspects of the church's work and was instrumental in the building of the church's current structure on Barracada Road. At his church, Julius was affectionately known as "The Candy Man" always being surrounded by the children of the church awaiting their Sunday treats. He was a Mason and will be fondly remembered for his love of hunting, fishing the local creeks and rivers of Colleton County, and for his talent and skill of crafting wood. Julius was also an avid sports fan, always supporting his family and loved friends as they participated in various sports.

Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Vergie Mixon Price; four sons, Julian Wayne Price and his wife Deby of Florence, Harold Dean Price and his wife Donna of Andrews, Michael Glenn Price, Sr. of Walterboro, and Charles Henry Price and his wife Desiree of Walterboro; and a sister, Janie R. Rohde of Walterboro. There are four grandchildren, Samantha Price Ammer and her husband Steven, Heather Aiken, Christina Elizabeth Price, and Michael Glenn Price, Jr. and four great grandchildren, Cierra Aiken, Reagan Benton, Ethan Harley, and Suzanna Macy Ammer that also survive, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and all of his Living Word Church family. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kirkland Dean Blocker Price; a great grandson, Dion Aiken; and a brother, Austin Price, Jr.,
