Mr. Henry Sanders McMillan, Jr., affectionately known by many as Sandy, age 64, entered into his state of eternal rest Sunday morning, July 11, 2010, at his residence in Green Pond surrounded by his loving family.



Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Tuesday morning, July 13, 2010, from Green Pond Baptist Church, 12317 Green Pond Highway, Green Pond, with The Reverend James W. Williams, Jr. and The Reverend Louis Beardon officiating. Interment with full military honors provided by the United States Marine Corps will follow in the churchyard.



Mr. McMillan was born November 19, 1945, in Colleton County and was a son of the late Henry Sanders McMillan, Sr. and the late Vivian Kinsey McMillan. He served his country faithfully in the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant having been stationed in Beaufort, South Carolina where he was commissioned to work for the Military Police being Sergeant of the Guard. He had a long and involved career with CSX Railroad, having first worked with them before and after his time in active military duty. With the railroad, he was a Special Agent for the Railroad Police and then worked in the capacity as a Conductor for thirty-two years. He was a life long member of Green Pond Baptist Church, a church that his late parents were founding members, and at his church he was active in many aspects of the churchs work to include being a former member of the Deacon Board. Sandy loved the outdoors and hunting with close friends was his favorite pastime. He was most proud of his time in service and throughout the remainder of his life, remained dedicated to the cause under which he served his country.



Surviving are: his wife of forty-four years, Mrs. Evelyn Myers McMillan; his two sons, Joseph Henry Jody McMillan and his wife Marcie of Green Pond and Jason Corey McMillan and his wife Jennifer of Walterboro; two brothers, Karl W. McMillan and his wife Gail of Waynesboro, Georgia and Fred A. McMillan and his wife Alice of Green Pond; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Jewel M. Myers of Summerville. There are six grandchildren, Chelsey McMillan, Collin McMillan, Chandler McMillan, Corey McMillan, Connor McMillan, and Thomas McMillan that also survive.



Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to the following: Green Pond Baptist Church, for use with their building fund, Post Office Box 265, Green Pond, South Carolina 29946; or to, Colleton County Relay For Life, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, South Carolina 29406.
