Mrs. Henrietta Chavis Rourk, 77, of 304 South Lemacks Street in Walterboro, entered into her eternal rest Monday morning, September 7, 2009, at her residence. She was the widow of Mr. Edward Daniel Ed Rourk, Sr.



Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 oclock, Thursday morning, September 10, 2009, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro with The Reverend Rick Powell and The Reverend Patsy Bunn officiating. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.



Mrs. Rourk was born June 8, 1932, in Orangeburg County, and was a daughter of the late Arthur Erwin Chavis and the late Letha Bell Grooms. She was a retired seamstress from the Walterboro Dress Plant and along with her late husband was a co-owner of Eds Used Furniture where she devoted many hours of work. She was of the Holiness Faith. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her dogs. She loved her family and was a good cook.



Surviving are: her son, James C. Hardy and his wife Diane of Walterboro; four step-sons, Daniel E. Rourk, Jr. of Summerville, Earl Rourk and his wife Linda of Walterboro, Mike Rourk and his wife Sharon of Bonneau, and Mark Rourk of Jedberg; a daughter, Shirley Barnes and her husband Sammy of Walterboro.



Out of nine children, Mrs. Henrietta was next to the baby child. Two brothers and six sisters all predeceased her. There are several nieces and nephews to include one special niece, Letha Pratt and her husband Ken of Walterboro as well as several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; and a special sister-in-law, Nell Rourk Harbert and her husband Paul of Cottageville.
