Hendrika Laterveer Shuman

Mrs. Rita Shuman, age 85, formerly of Canadys, entered into rest in the early morning hours of Christmas Day, December 25, 2020 at Life Care Center of Charleston.  She was the loving wife of the late Harris Shuman.

She was born January 6, 1935 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.  For many years she was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker who did a fabulous “job” raising her three children.  Along with her husband, she was owner/operator of Shuman’s RV in Canadys and was also a seamstress with Belk for a period of time.

Surviving are two children: a daughter, Linda S. Varner (Terry) and a son, Jeffrey Shuman (Cathi), all of Walterboro; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren, with one more due in March.  She was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Shuman along with her husband, parents, sisters, and brothers-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.

A private graveside service will be held at Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
