Helen Gamble Forrester

Mrs. Helen Gamble Forrester, 99, of Hampton, entered into rest Monday morning, December 26, 2016, at the John Edward Harter Nursing Center in Fairfax.  She was the widow of Mr. Ira Franklin Forrester, Sr.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Friday morning, December 30, 2016, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Varnville.  The Reverend Wallace Wise officiating.  Interment will follow in Hampton Cemetery.

Born December 12, 1917, in Jamestown, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David O. Gamble, Sr.  She was a retiree of the Department of Social Services as well as Westinghouse.  She was a founding member of the Lighthouse Church in Hampton.

Surviving are: a son, Frank Forrester, Jr. and his wife Martha “Sissy” Forrester of Summerville; and two daughters, Edith Marie Richards and her husband James Richards of North Augusta, South Carolina and Joyce Forrester Lathrop and her husband Happ Lathrop of Chapin, South Carolina.  There are seven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren that also survive.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to the following:  Hampton Cemetery Association, 402 Shaw Drive, Hampton, South Carolina 29924; or to, South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation, Post Office Box 286, Irmo, South Carolina 29063.
