Helen Avant

Mrs. Helen B. Avant, 71, of 683 Beach Road, Walterboro, entered into her state of eternal rest Sunday morning, May 2, 2010, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. She was the wife of the late Mr. Jack McKay Avant.



Funeral services will be conducted at 11 oclock Wednesday morning, May 5, 2010 from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro with The Reverend James W. Williams, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Doctors Creek Baptist Church, 126 Doctors Creek Road, Walterboro.



Mrs. Avant was born January 2, 1939 in Augusta, Georgia and was a daughter of the late William Gaston Bush and the late Helen Virginia Brabham Bush. For many years she resided in Lexington, Kentucky where she was a retired certified medical assistant before coming back to her home in Walterboro. She was a member of Lafayette Christian Church in Lexington, Kentucky and was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was dedicated to her gardening, and will be fondly remembered for the love she had for her family and the devotion she had to the beautiful flowers she grew around her home.



Surviving are: a son, Mack Avant and his wife Natalie of Lexington, Kentucky; two daughters, Beth Avant of Walterboro and Callie Avant of Lexington, Kentucky; two brothers, William Gaston Bush, Jr. of Vergen, New Jersey and Crossland Bush of Cove Lake, Florida. There are five grandchildren, Phillip Taylor, Jeff Taylor, Jackson Avant, Hayden Marinaro, and Hunter Marinaro; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a host of wonderful friends whom she loved as her family. She was preceded in death by a sister, Maye Virginia Walton.



Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to the charity of ones choice.
