Helen Adams

October 13, 1933 — February 12, 2013

Mrs. Helen Brown Adams, 79, of Cory Lane, Walterboro, entered into rest Tuesday evening, February 12, 2013, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She was the widow of Mr. William Boyd Robertson, Jr. who died in 1981, and Mr. Wade Hampton Adams who died in 2007.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 o'clock Saturday morning, February 16, 2013, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Bruce Coffin officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel United Methodist Churchyard, 5277 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.

Born October 13, 1933, a native of Aiken, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Lucille Fincher Brown. Helen loved sewing, and through that love her life vocation was that of a seamstress. Having worked at sewing plants in the area, she eventually opened and operated the Sewing Nook in Walterboro. After her retirement, she then worked in the fabric department of Wal-Mart in Walterboro. She was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. She will be fondly remembered for her love of reading, flowers, and plants.

Surviving are: a son, Tim Robertson and his wife Pam of Walterboro; five daughters, Sherrie Robertson of Hilton Head, Glenda Craven of Walterboro, Brenda Thomas and her husband Jimmie of Walterboro, Melissa Olaru and her husband Adrian of Walterboro, and Barbara Coffin and her husband Carl of Walterboro; and a sister, Beverly Groves of Walterboro. There are thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren that also survive. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Charles T. Craven.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to a cause important to Helen's heart: Colleton County Animal Shelter, 59 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
