Mr. Harris Shuman, 83, of Canadys, entered into his eternal rest Thursday morning, Janaury 20, 2011, at his residence.



Funeral services will be conducted 3 oclock Saturday afternoon, January 22, 2011, from the graveside at Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.



Mr. Shuman was born July 21, 1927, in Badham, South Carolina (Dorchester County), and was a son of the late Harry Shuman and the late Lillian Shuman. He served his country faithfully in the United States Merchant Marines during the latter part of World War II. He was a retired loom fixer from Asten Hill, Inc. in Walterboro and was the owner and operator of Shumans RV Park at Canadys. He attended Memorial Baptist Church in Saint George and will be fondly remembered for his strong work ethic, always placing his family and his responsibilities first in life.



Surviving are: his wife of fifty-five years, Mrs. Hendrika Laterveer Shuman; two sons, Ronnie Shuman and his wife Tammy and Jeffery Shuman and his wife Cathi all of Walterboro; a daughter, Linda Shuman Varner and her husband Terry of Walterboro; a brother, T. R. Pete Shuman of Saint George; two sisters, Dolly Coleman of Georgia and Evelyn Wimberly of Bowman. There are nine grandchildren, Tina Davis and her husband Billy of Atlanta, Shannon Dandridge and her husband Michael, Wendy Frank and her husband Jimmy, Lance Shuman, Ryan Shuman, Taylor Shuman, Amber Shuman, Allison Shuman, Lexi Shuman, Joseph Warden and his wife Crystal, and Krissy South all of Walterboro; as well as eight great grandchildren who also survive.



Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be directed to the charity of ones choice.
