Harriett Langdale

November 23, 1928 — November 12, 2016

Mrs. Harriett Elizabeth Hollis Langdale, a long-time resident of Irmo, SC, died Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Providence Heart Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Ehrhardt Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in Ehrhardt Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 1 pm until the hour of service at the church.

Born November 23, 1928, she grew up in Ehrhardt, SC, the daughter of the late The Reverend Robert W. Hollis, II, and Elizabeth Rawl Hollis.  She is predeceased by her husband, Charles C. Langdale; sister, Elsie Hollis Speaks; and brother, Robert W. Hollis, III.

Harriett was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was known to her family and friends as “Nana.”  She was an avid reader and card player, who loved to crochet.  She never met a stranger, and will remain forever young to all those who knew her.

She is survived by her son, George Larry Langdale (Cathy); daughters, Libby Langdale Sutherland (Dale), and Holly Langdale Meetze (Joe); sister, Barbara Ann Hollis Kennerly; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Surviving grandchildren include: John Davis, Cris Garrick (Fearis Hudson), Heather Langdale, George Langdale (Katie), Vicki Wicker Amick (Trey), Brandi Meetze, Laura Federico (Matt), Cleve Langdale, Charles “Chad” Langdale, and Matthew Langdale.  She is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special appreciation to Laura Hamilton, MD, for her kindness, selflessness, and support during this difficult time.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Ehrhardt Baptist Church or Ehrhardt Cemetery are greatly appreciated.
