H. Lamar Jordan

Mr. Henry Lamar Jordan, 80, of Ruffin, entered into rest Sunday morning, April 14, 2013, at his residence.

A celebration of his life will be conducted 1 o’clock Saturday afternoon, April 20, 2013, from Shiloh Baptist Church, 10565 Lowcountry Highway, Ruffin, the Reverend Ricky Crosby officiating.

Born August 29, 1932, a native of Aiken County, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Henry Daniel Jordan Jr. and the late Addis Sanders Jordan. He and his wife made Colleton County their home for twenty years. Mr. Jordan served his country faithfully in the United States Navy having seen action during the Korean Conflict. For twenty-one years, he was a trooper with the South Carolina Highway Patrol then worked for the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles where he retired as a driver’s license examiner. He was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church, a Master Mason having been a Mason for over fifty years, a member of Unity Masonic Lodge, No. 55, Ancient Free Masons in Walterboro, and was also a member of Walterboro Chapter, No. 146 Order of The Eastern Star. He was an avid fisherman and fishing local fresh water creeks and ponds was his favorite pastime. He will also be remembered for his love of working on and restoring cars.

Surviving are: his devoted and loving wife of fifty-seven years, Mrs. Katie Louise Scott Jordan; a son, Daniel Leon Jordan and his wife Tamara of Campbell, California; a daughter, Teresa Jordan Kirby and her husband Billy of Ruffin; and a sister, Mary Ellen Key of Graniteville, South Carolina. There are five grandchildren, Meredith D’Agostino, J. Matthew Nettles, Edward S. Jordan, Kristin A. Kirby, and Courtney Paige Jordan; as well as four great grandchildren.

In lieu of floral tributes, the family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: Shiloh Baptist Church, care of Mrs. Doris Nettles, 909 School House Road, Ruffin, South Carolina 29475.
