WALTERBORO " Mr. Guy Ronald Ronnie Ackerman, 75, of 673 Palmgreen Lane, Walterboro, entered into his eternal rest Friday morning, January 1, 2010, at his residence under the care of Sanctuary Hospice. He was first married to the late Mrs. Vi Mizzel Ackerman and was the husband of Mrs. Inez Smith McGhie Ackerman.
Funeral services will be conducted 4 oclock Sunday afternoon, January 3, 2010, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro with The Reverend Bob Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Utsey Cemetery, Grover.
Mr. Ackerman was born July 4, 1934 in Lynchburg, SC and was a son of the late Guy Edward Ackerman and the late Emily Stafford Ackerman. He served his country in the South Carolina National Guard and was a retired copier and office equipment repairman from AME in Columbia. He was a member of Grover United Methodist Church. Guy had an avid love for radio controlled air planes and was an instructor having taught others how to operate and fly radio controlled air planes. He also had an avid love for air shows, and in many instances served as an historian at many shows he attended.
Surviving in addition to his wife are: his six children, Ronald Ackerman and his wife Renee of Goose Creek, Brian Scott Ackerman and his wife Jill of Greenville, Tennessee, and David Ackerman of Charleston, Deborah Petrazuiello of Aiken, Robin Loadholt of Walterboro, and Charles Robert McGhie of Cottageville; and a brother, William Ackerman of Irmo. There are nine grandchildren, Stephanie Ackerman, Kristina Ackerman, Andrew Ackerman, April Cooke, Nick Thomas, Tyler McGhie, Ryan McGhie, Mary Beth Latham, and Joey Loadholt; and one great grandchild, Brooke Latham. He was preceded in death by a son, John McGhie.
