Mrs. Grace Elizabeth Bennett, 78, of Varnville, entered into eternal rest Friday evening, February 28, 2025, at Magnolia’s of Walterboro. She was the wife of the late Marvin Terrell Bennett, to whom she was married 52 years.
Born April 16, 1946, in Hampton, she was a daughter of the late Murphy Tillman Bennett, Sr. and Ethel Grace Bell Bennett. She graduated from Wade Hampton High School, Class of 1964; and then went on to receive her degree in Criminal Justice. Mrs. Grace worked for B.C. Moore’s, Westinghouse, Hampton County Bank, and the Lowcountry Council of Government in Point South. She then began working as a Clerk for Mary Frances Henderson and became a part-time Municipal Judge for the Town of Varnville. From there, she became a Chief Magistrate Judge for Hampton County from 1997-2008.
Mrs. Grace was a faithful and devoted member of Spirit of Life Ministries. She dearly loved the Lord and loved witnessing to everyone she met. She enjoyed working in her yard and reading. Most of all, Grace loved her family. She centered her life around her family, always taking care of everyone and being there for anyone that needed her.
Surviving are: her children, Lisa B. Latham and her husband Dewayne of Hampton, Tabitha B. Mole and her husband Ronald of Early Branch, and Marvin Terrell Bennett, Jr. and his wife Julie of Hampton; grandchildren, Jason Latham and his wife Mary Beth, Kayla Latham (Matt Long), Allen Mole and his wife Sherry, Stephanie Hawks and her husband Nathan, Little Terrell Bennett, Allie Bennett, Heather Bennett, and Hunter Bennett; and great grandchildren, Brooke Latham (Cain Dempsey), Jordyn Latham, Kallie Latham, Bindi Long, Levi Long, Naomi Long, Warren Mole, Emily Mole, Avery Hawks, and Preston Mole. She is also survived by her brothers, Murphy “Mutt” Bennett, Jr. of Early Branch and Coleman Bell and his wife Terri of Bluffton; sisters, Brenda Latham and her husband Tim of Hampton and Karen Mew of Varnville; sisters-in-law, Joyce Bennett of Ehrhardt, Geraldine White of Varnville, and Kathy Bell of Bluffton; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Justin Latham; great grandson, Gage Justin Latham; and great granddaughter, Mia Lena Long.
Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Tuesday afternoon, March 4, 2025, at Spirit of Life Ministries, 235 Chanel Drive, Varnville. Interment will follow in Varnville Cemetery.
