Gloria Godwin

Mrs. Gloria Jean Perkins-Godwin, 79, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Monday, July 21, 2025, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Gloria was born on October 2, 1945, in Marianna, Florida. She was a member of Faith Church in Walterboro and The Baptist Church of Beaufort. She had a long career of 35 years in banking having worked at First National Bank of South Carolina, Wachovia, and Wells Fargo Bank in Walterboro before finally retiring from Wells Fargo in Beaufort, SC as Vice President. She then worked an additional 5 years as a New Business Development Manager at Palmetto State Bank in Beaufort. A faithful servant to the community she served as a member of the Civitan’s Club of Walterboro, Beaufort Rotary Club, a member of the Beaufort Shag Club and volunteered at the Beaufort Memorial Hospital.  She enjoyed spending time with family and her interaction with the community.

She was preceded in death by her parents LeRoy and Beulah Perkins and siblings, Marshia Shoupe, Myrthal Gilbert, Mozell Wilcox, Lyvonne Nichols, and Lydon Perkins.

Surviving are: Her husband of sixty-three years, Jim Godwin; sons, Steve (Robin) of O’Fallon, IL, Greg (Jan) of Walterboro, SC, and Tim (Allye) of Greenwood, SC; grandchildren: Leslie Garlich (Derek), Lauren Schiefer (Jared), Stacy Minton (Neil), Will, Josh and Luke Godwin; great grandchildren, Riley Minton, Lola Grace Minton and Jenna Schiefer.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date in Walterboro to be attended by family.
