Mr. Glenn Harrell Warren, 67, of Summerville, entered into his state of eternal rest Wednesday evening, September 15, 2010, at the Medical University Hospital of South Carolina in Charleston.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 oclock Friday afternoon, September 17, 2010, from the graveside at Zion Baptist Churchyard, 152 Ruffin Road, Walterboro. The family will receive friends following the committal service at the cemetery.
Mr. Warren was born September 10, 1943, in Colleton County and was a son of the late Moody Postell Warren and the late Gertrude Strickland Warren. For many years, he worked in the Data Processing Department of the Charleston Naval Shipyard before moving to the Army Corps of Engineers where he worked with their Survey Crew for Waterway until his retirement. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Walterboro and the Sons of Confederate Veterans Colleton Rangers Camp No. 1643, where he was awarded the Compatriot of the Year Award in 2003 for his dedication and service to the cause. He possessed an avid love for the outdoors, always enjoying hunting and fishing.
Surviving are: his son, Rhett Harrell Warren of Charleston; a daughter, Linda Elizabeth Warren of Charleston; and two brothers, Bobby D. Warren and M. Carl Warren both of Goose Creek.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: Charleston County Relay for Life, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, South Carolina 29406.
