Mr. Glenn Thomas Ryan, age 77, entered into rest Wednesday morning, February 18, 2015, at his home on Lowcountry Highway in Smoaks while surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Amedisys Hospice.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Saturday morning, February 21, 2015 from the graveside in Little Swamp United Methodist Churchyard, 17465 Hunters Chapel Road, Smoaks. The Reverend Wayne Varnadoe officiating.
Born December 24, 1937, a native of Colleton County, he was a son of the late Tom Ryan and the late Estelle Kinard Ryan. Mr. Ryan worked as a spreader and cutter with Smoaks Manufacturing where he retired after thirty years of selfless and dedicated service. Following his retirement, his work as a site attendant for the last eight years with the Colleton County Recycling Center made him a well-known friend to many throughout the county. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. In his younger years, he loved to hunt as well as fish. He will be fondly remembered for his love of spending time with his family and friends and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchild. Glenn never knew a stranger and also enjoyed gospel and country music and reading his bible.
Surviving are: his wife of fifty-six years, Mrs. Lula Mae Ryan; three children, Sandra Jarrell and her husband Richard of Smoaks, Mike Ryan of Smoaks, and Ben Ryan and his wife Kelly of Round O; three brothers, Jake Ryan and his wife Bobbie of Hampton, Buck Ryan and his wife Sue of Walterboro, and Billy Ryan of North Carolina; and three sisters, Katherine Crosby of Walterboro, Nancy Alexander of Pickens, and Judy Conelly and her husband Donald of Pennsylvania. There are eight grandchildren, Brandy Clark and her husband Matthew, Katrina Ryan, Kayla Miller, Tabitha Ryan, Tiffany Ryan, Richard Bopeep Jarrell, Elizabeth Davidson, and Jeffery Davidson; a great grandchild, Grace Ryan; as well as a dear friend, Kim Rencken. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Donna Davidson Ryan.
