Gladys Vanderpool

Mrs. Gladys Mixson Vanderpool, 82, of Hanahan, passed away Monday, January 5, 2009 at Roper Hospital.



Graveside services will be held 1 pm, Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Sand Hill Cemetery, Pocotaligo Road, Varnville.



Mrs. Vanderpool was born December 1, 1926 in Varnville, SC and was a daughter of the late Lewis and Lena Mixson. She was a retired employee of the Navy Exchange. She was a charter member of Park Circle Baptist Church, now known as Portside Baptist Church in North Charleston.



Surviving are: her daughter, Linda Florie of Hanahan; grandchildren, Karyn Trail and her husband Joe of North Cape Coral, Florida and Wiley F. Knight and his wife Colline of Charlotte, NC; great grandson, Derek Stevens of North Cape Coral, FL; sisters, Venice M. Osteen of Zephyrhills, FL., Sarah Lutz and her husband Ted of Zephyrhills, FL, Virginia M. Corbin of Beaufort and Jean M. Corbin and her husband Harford of Varnville; aunts, Lula M. Anderson of Yemassee and Allie W. Mixson of Varnville; and several nieces and nephews.
