Mr. Gerald “Jerry” Perkins, age 77, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina ended his battle with Alzheimer’s disease Wednesday morning, June 8, 2016, at the Veteran’s Victory House in Walterboro, South Carolina.
A visitation will be held Monday, June 13, 2016 from 11 am to 12 noon, with a funeral service following at 12 noon at William R. Chase and Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenago Street, Binghamton, New York. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Chenango Valley Cemetery, Binghamton, New York.
Born January 22, 1939, in Binghamton, New York, he was a son of the late John Perkins and the late Ethel Hamblin Perkins and was the youngest of ten siblings. He served our country faithfully in the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal having been assigned to Air Traffic Control Operations. Following his time in service, he spent most of his career as Regional Manager for Monro Muffler Brake out of Rochester, New York. His charm, quick witted sense of humor and eagerness to please will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Pennefeather Perkins; a son, Michael Perkins of Binghamton, New York; four daughters, Deborah Walter of Binghamton, New York, Tamara McKinney of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Tracy Anstey and her husband Mark of Pamplin, Virginia, and Tanya Bosley and her husband Rodney of Casper, Wyoming; a brother, Roland Perkins of Scranton, Pennsylvania; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Tina Pennefeather of Johnson City, New York; as well as seventeen grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
