Gerald Mcalhany

Mr. Gerald Hutto McAlhany, 87, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Saturday evening,  August 9, 2025 at his residence.

Born May 21, 1938, in Branchville, SC, he was a son of the late Theodore and Esther Hutto McAlhany.  He served in the United States Army for eight years.  After serving, Gerald worked for SCE&G as a maintenance mechanic and welder for thirty-three years.  Upon retirement, he enjoyed spending his time fishing, with family, and at Grace Advent Christian Church, where he was a lifelong member.

Surviving are: his beloved wife of sixty-five years,  Mrs. Miriam Craven McAlhany, two sons Jerry McAlhany and his wife, Jody, and Tony McAlhany and his wife, Brenda all of Walterboro; grandchildren Nichole (Wesley) Stanfield, Devin McAlhany, Andrew McAlhany, and Rebecca (Ethan) Alberts, eight great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, sister Deloris Wolfe, and sister-in-law Edna McAlhany.  He was preceded in death by a son, Terry McAlhany; and five siblings, Louise Berry, Sallie Thomas, J.W. McAlhany, Raye Crosby, and Furman McAlhany.

Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has requested that memorials be directed in his memory to: Grace Advent Christian Church, 398 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Thursday, August 14, 2025, from Grace Advent Christian Church, 398 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.  The Reverend Wayne Lucas officiating.   Interment will follow in the churchyard.    The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 11 o’clock in the church sanctuary.
