Mr. Gerald Edmond Grossie, 70, of Peniel Road, Walterboro, entered into rest Wednesday morning, March 26, 2014, at his residence.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, March 30, 2014, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony Sunday afternoon.
Born January 5, 1944, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, a son of the late Edmond Esra Alexander Grossie and the late Nellie Mae Ayers Grossie Love. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith.
Surviving are: his loving and devoted wife of forty-five years, Mrs. Mary Lou Garvin Mock Grossie; four children, Jim Mock of Walterboro, Mary Ann Long and her husband Bud of Walterbor, Rose Marie Moore and her husband Stanley of Yemassee, and Helen Sauls and her husband Harold of Ridgeland; and two sisters, Linda Halmark and Sharon Bunton. There are eleven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren that also survive. He was preceded in death by a son, Fonzie Ellis Mock, Jr.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
