Mrs. Georgia Mae Carson Pellum, 99, of Green Pond, entered into eternal rest Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Pruitt Health in Walterboro. She was the widow of Joseph Ashley Pellum, to whom she was married for 47 years.
Funeral services will be held 3 pm, Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Green Pond Baptist Church, Green Pond Highway, Green Pond. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Pellum was born February 1, 1916 in Smoaks and was a daughter of the late Curtis Carson and Minnie Jennings Carson. She was the former owner of Pellum’s Grocery in Green Pond and was a former bookkeeper for FCX in Walterboro. She was a charter member of Green Pond Baptist Church, where she was the former president and member of the WMU, former Sunday School Assembly Director and former Sunday School teacher. She loved to crochet and knit and enjoyed sending cards to everyone she knew.
Surviving are: her children, Elmer Gene Pellum of Walterboro, Harry Scott Pellum of Green Pond, Vivian P. Baker of Walterboro, Marie P. Douglas of Walterboro, Mickie P. Douglas of Walterboro, and Emma Jean P. Hiott of Walterboro; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Eugene Pellum and James Vonlehe Pellum; brother, Lonnie W. Carson; and sisters, Anna C. Connelly and Minnie C. Wilburn.
