Ms. Georgette Hawkins Lyons, 88, of Ruffin, entered into eternal rest Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Colleton Medical Center with her family by her side.
Born March 30, 1937, in Rockingham, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late James Wade Hawkins and Georgia Henrietta Knight Hawkins. She was a sewing machine operator for Vestra Industries in Smoaks. More than anything, she will be remembered for her love of her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are: her children, Linda Sue Nixon of Walterboro, James Grey Nixon, II of Dobson, North Carolina, Wayne Eaves of Walterboro, Lora Nettles of Walterboro, Andy Lyons of Walterboro, Greg Lyons of Tennessee, and Dewey Lyons of Florida; sister, Attie Childress of Elkin, North Carolina; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons, Brady Lyons and Dwayne Lyons; brothers, James Wade Hawkins, Jr., Benjamin Everett Hawkins, Marion Hawkins, and Otis Hawkins; and sisters, Jeanette Jackson and Valerie Gerard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to: Colleton County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs, Post Office Box 1547, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
Funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Wednesday morning, April 23, 2025, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
