Mr. George William Williams, 76, of Cottageville, entered into eternal rest Tuesday morning, January 6, 2015, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Thursday morning, January 8, 2015, from Welch Creek Baptist Church, 536 Welch Creek Road, Walterboro. Pastor James Baker officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow the funeral ceremony later that afternoon at 2 oclock in Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston.
Born May 30, 1938 in Charleston, South Carolina, he was a son of the late George William Williams, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Platt Cannon. He served our country faithfully in the United States Air Force as well as the Army and after working a distinguished and dedicated career of twenty-six years with the Charleston Naval Shipyard he retired as a pipefitter. He was a member of Welch Creek Baptist Church in Walterboro. George loved sports, in his earlier years, he coached football and basketball.
Surviving are: his wife of fifty-six years, Mrs. Angela Redman Williams; two sons, Peter H. Williams of Goshen, Kentucky and John George Williams of Minot, North Dakota; two daughters, Blanche Widener of Aiken and Stephanie Angela Way of Taylors; four sisters, Judy LaMantia, Patricia Deer, Linda Wertan, and Sandra Kuhns. There are ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne Elizabeth Cliborne and three grandchildren.
