Mr. George Junior Rook, 74, of 85 Joye Street, Ruffin, entered into his eternal rest Monday morning, December 7, 2009, at his residence following a brief illness.



The family will have a visitation on Wednesday evening, December 9, 2009, from 6:00 until 9:00 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Homes, Walterboro Chapel.



Mr. Rook was born May 22, 1935, in Avoca, New York and was a son of the late George Lewis Rook and the late Hazel Parson Nicholson. For forty years, George worked for Corning, Inc. as an electrician in Corning, New York until his retirement. He was of the United Methodist faith and possessed an avid love for NASCAR Motor Sports, especially Jeff Gordon.



Surviving are his wife of fifty-six years, Mrs. Gail J. Rook; four sons, George T. Rook and his wife Brenda of Fountain Inn, Robert Rook and his wife Val of Painted Post, New York, Kevin Rook and his wife Susan of Ocala, Florida, and Kelvin Rook and his wife Sammie of Ruffin; a daughter, Penny Buck and her husband Joey of Corning, New York; two brothers, Joe Rook of Bath, New York and Lewis Rook of Norfolk, Virginia; and two sisters, Irene Carter of Ruffin and Ramona Ulsh of Fresno, California. There are eighteen grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren; as well as a special daughter-in-law, Linda Rook of Rock Hill and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, Rusty and Steven Rook; three sisters, Beulah, Maryetta, and Peggy; and a brother, James.
