George Padgett

Mr. George LaFay Padgett, 76, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Thursday afternoon, May 8, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Born July 1, 1948, in Colleton County, he was a son of the late Ralph LaFay Padgett and the late Minnie Lee Price Padgett.  He was a retired truck driver having worked for Bootle Logging Company for many years.  He was a member of Northside Christian Church.  He was affectionately known by all by his CB handle, “Mighty Mouse”.

Surviving are: his wife, Theresa Benton Padgett of Walterboro; children, Chris Padgett, Jamie Garvin, Rodney Pellum, and Kim Pinnix, all of Walterboro; 6 grandchildren, Ciera Hilton, Jesse Garvin, Daniel Garvin, Mackenzie Pellum, Peyton Pellum, and Avery Pellum; 7 great grandchildren; brothers, Eugene Padgett of Walterboro, Clyde Padgett of Beaufort, and Gerald Padgett of Walterboro; and sister, Gail Prescott of Walterboro.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Padgett; and sisters, Margaret Bonds and Lillie Broach.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to: Northside Christian Church, Post Office Box 1793, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.

Funeral services will be held 11 o’clock Monday morning, May 12, 2025, in the Glendale Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
